Why melt down in a nuclear reactor is dangerous?

Windom

Why people are worried about the meltdown in atomic reactors in japan? Is not meltdown better than a blast?

Lakeside

A'meltdown' means that the coolant of the reactor is not working and is dysfunctional. Which means that there is nothing to cool down the nuclear core. Which also means that the ICP temperature is uncontrollably high. Which is gonna lead to lot of reactions and agitation of the plutonium core. To put it simple.....if a meltdown occurs...the coolant will not work. Nuke core gets very reactive and u have a BIG Kaboom.....wayyyy(with a lot of y's) bigger Kaboom than Hiroshima AND Nagasaki combined.
